Fire & Gas Detector Mapping

OVERVIEW

Requirements for fire and gas detection correspond to the hazards present in each facility. A Fire and Gas Detection Mapping (FGDM) study verifies that detector placement and coverage are adequate and effective. At PRISM, we carry out FGDM using dedicated fire and gas mapping software on a 3D model of your plant to visualise detector locations and coverage within the defined geometry. We assess both Geographic Coverage and Scenario Coverage in line with relevant codes, standards, and guidelines. Geographic Coverage shows where detectors sit and the achieved coverage in the specified areas. Scenario Coverage applies a Risk-Based approach to confirm that detection performance is sufficient and effective for credible releases and fire events. The outcome is clear coverage metrics that support siting, alarm philosophy, and design decisions.
