The Process industry is exposed to risks like fire, explosion, and accidents causing harm to personnel Health &Safety, Environment or Property Damage. A Safety Instrument System (SIS) is one of the most important layer of protection preventing those accidents & hazards from being realised. Therefore, the Safety Performance criteria for SIS are defined by Safety Integrity Levels (SIL). As part of the SIS, an independent protection layer know as a Safety Instrumented Function (SIF), is a function implemented by means of instruments to maintain a safe state of the process and to control or mitigate consequences should a specific excursion arise during operations. A SIF typically comprises of three subsystems which are the sensors, logic solver and final elements. Prism has extensive experience in conducting:-SIL Classification study to determine SIL for SIFs through assessment on criticality of the SIFs in terms of their function-SIL Verification study to verify and demonstrate that SIFs classified as SIL 1 and above meets their respective target SIL requirements
