To deliver
Significant, Swift and Sustainable
results for our clients
PRISM Group is an established, independent third-party consultancy specializing in Process, Risk, Integrity, Safety, and Asset Management. With over 30 years of field experience and deep technical knowledge, we provide the independent oversight needed to navigate complex regulatory regimes from concept development through to decommissioning. Our team serves as a trusted technical safety consultant to complex industries worldwide, working to minimize environmental impact while maximizing operational uptime for our global clients.
What Does a Technical Safety Consultant Do?
At PRISM Group, our role extends beyond simple oversight. We act as an independent technical partner to identify, manage, and mitigate risks across the entire lifecycle of high-hazard assets. We bridge the gap between complex engineering requirements and operational reality to ensure your people and assets remain protected.
Our Core Responsibilities:
Risk Identification and Assessment
We conduct deep-dive technical studies to identify potential hazards before they become incidents. This includes specialized assessments such as HAZID (Hazard Identification), HAZOP (Hazard and Operability), and QRA (Quantitative Risk Assessment) to quantify and manage operational threats.
Process Safety Management (PSM)
We design and implement robust frameworks to prevent the release of hazardous materials. Our consultants ensure that your facility’s design and operating procedures meet the highest safety integrity levels, focusing on the prevention of fires, explosions, and structural failures.
Regulatory Compliance and Technical Advisory
Navigating the complex web of local and international safety regulations can be a barrier to progress. We provide the independent technical oversight required to demonstrate compliance to regulators, ensuring your project moves from concept to operation without legal or safety bottlenecks.
Asset Integrity and Reliability
A safe plant is a reliable plant. We analyze the physical state of your assets to predict and prevent failures. By integrating safety with maintenance strategy, we help extend the life of your equipment while maximizing uptime and reducing unplanned shutdowns.
Lifecycle Safety Oversight
Safety is not a one-time event. We provide continuous support from Concept Development and Detailed Design through to Commissioning and, eventually, Decommissioning. This ensures that safety is "baked into" the DNA of the project from day one.
Human Factors Engineering and Ergonomics
We evaluate plant design against worker tasks, jobs, products, environments, and systems to ensure compatibility with human needs, abilities, and limitations. Our Human Factors Engineering team ensures that ergonomics is inherent in plant design, making operations safer and easier to perform.
Industries and Projects We Support
At PRISM Group, we bring our deep expertise across a broad spectrum of complex industries, delivering significant, swift, and sustainable solutions throughout the entire facility lifecycle. Our multidisciplinary team draws on decades of combined experience to address the unique challenges of major hazard industries.
Chemicals
The storage, handling and processing of chemicals in bulk poses risks to populations on and offsite. These risks must be identified assessed and managed throughout the facility lifecycle.
Financial
Pre-merger / acquisition audits to determine the management systems in place and the operational condition of plant and equipment.
Manufacturing
Pre-merger / acquisition audits to determine the management systems in place and the operational condition of plant and equipment
Marine
The safe storage and transportation of bulk chemicals by sea introduces risks to and from ships along the marine transportation routes. Increasingly, marine operations in the vicinity of other hazardous installations require Safety (HSE) Cases to be developed to document the safety equipment, management systems and arrangement for safe operation of vessels.
Mining
The extraction of minerals involves the use of heavy machinery and personnel working in potentially hazardous environments. The uptime of machinery, the safety of personnel and the impact on the environment all need careful assessment and ongoing monitoring throughout the activity lifetime.
Hydrocarbon Energy
The production of oil and gas involves the use of construction of major process plant and personnel working in potentially hazardous environments. The uptime of machinery, the safety of personnel and the impact on the environment all need careful assessment and ongoing monitoring throughout the activity lifetime.
Renewable Energy
The construction of onshore and offshore windfarms comes with risks to personnel, asset and the environment during construction, installation, operation and decommissioning. These risks must be identified assessed and managed throughout the facility lifecycle.
Utilities
The generation, storage and distribution of power and water poses risks to personnel, asset and the environment throughout the facility lifecycle. These risks must be identified assessed and managed throughout the facility lifecycle.
Construction
The construction or major projects involves the use of heavy machinery and personnel working in potentially hazardous environments. The uptime of machinery, the safety of personnel and the impact on the environment all need careful assessment and ongoing monitoring throughout the activity lifetime.
Other Industries
The tools and techniques applied to the assessment of risks and the management of assets can be applied to all production facilities in any industry. If you do not see your specific industry above, contact us to discuss how these tools and techniques can be applied to help you.
Pharmaceuticals
As with any production plant, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing facilities face Asset Management and process safety issues, however the allowable deviations in product quality are understandably tighter. PRISM has experience of developing bespoke management systems and for safe & reliable operation of highly sensitive production operation.
Transportation
The transportation of hazardous materials via road, rail or pipelines poses risks to population in the vicinity of the transportation corridors. Factors such as the number of batches, the time of day the routes used for transportation greatly affect the likelihood and consequences of accidents and hence risks posed.
Leadership Team
Our leadership consists of highly specialized managers with deep technical safety expertise and a profound understanding of global industry practices. With decades of combined experience across the entire asset lifecycle, our directors bring more than just theoretical knowledge; they offer the practical, field-proven insights required to navigate today’s complex regulatory and operational challenges.
